The OP asked if it was feasible to make $180k in engineering. I agree with you that $80,000 is probably more typical unless you were a project engineer with considerable experience and expertise or in a managerial position. Even then $180 would be a well compensated engineer.

That salary would probably be for a vice President, not just an Engineer. Of course, I know that they do pay well connected former military people well but I am not sure it is that well. Jay

It's a research engineer at the research center. Hubby's been in the industry for 9+ years. Great info. I am very glad I found this site!

current salary is about 95K
