I'm a nurse that's relocating. I'm trying to find out what daycare costs in the Hartford area and what hours daycare is available. I have a 4 month old and a 7 year old. Being a nurse, sometimes we have to work some odd hours, so I'm trying to see when daycare is available so that I know what hours I will be available to work. Can someone please fill me in?

Costs: $200-400 per week depending on the center. It's up to you to decide what's important and if the center is worth paying "more".

Hours: Totally up to the center. Sorry. The "norm" I have seen is M-F 7am-6pm with some variations, but there may be other centers that can accomodate "off" hours.

I don't know of any centers who have hours much past 6 PM. Although if you're working for Hartford Hopsital or one of the other larger hospitals, they may have on-site day care past 6 PM.

Your best bet may be a smaller in-home day care provider or a nanny/mother's helper to fill in for the odd hours.

This link will take you to has the licensed day care providers in CT, which may be another place to start.
