I repeat, Wallingford is NOTHING like Hamden! Obviously you do not live here or know this town at all. Go ahead and get stats on "Hamden High" and our schools!~

Well perhaps you are right! Hamden does seem too have "more to offer" than Wallingford? There is a significantly higher racial diversity in Hamden, lower medial income(although a higher educational statistic), lower medal housing costs, 627 more people per square mile, 10 more sex offenders, and a higher crime index. YUP, Hamden has MORE!!!! :0

Default Wallingford

I would take Wallingford over Hamden 100 out of 100 times. The only reason I would live in Hamden is if I worked at or attended Quinnipiac.

If you move to Wallingford (or even if you don't) check out the Half Moon Cafe. I haven't been there in years but if it's still there it is some of the best food I have had in a long time.

well it seems theres alot of arguement here over basically whats better, a city or a town. Neither Hamden nor Wallingford are any better than eachother. They both have places to shop, both are in good locations, both have lots of business. And who cares how "diverse" Hamden may be because from the sound of it it just seems like you dont want to live around minorities. Im from New Britain and personally i dont think theres a better place on Earth. So please, YankeeWoman, dont lower yourself down to the level of basing people and towns on what they make each year or what ethnicity they are. And as far as schools are concerned, this is CT. Some of our worst schools are still better than some of the best schools in alot of other states. I wouldn't even mind living in Hartford. :-D

I'm moving to Wallingford. Can you provide some input on a decent 1 bedroom apt to rent?

Wallingford is great but more mexicans are starting to ruin the downtown area and too many bars. Wallingford is 99% safe.I've lived here my whole life and my advice is to stay away from ghetto MERIDEN. Wallingford is the top town in the area. TRUST ME.Youll love it.

Generally, Wallingford is not considered to be an upscale town but there are some upscale neighborhoods. Wallingford is known for having the lowest electicity rates in the state (it is one of the few towns with its own electricity department) and has a very good tax base which helps keep the taxes lower than most. I have friends there and they love it. Jay

I grew up in Wallingford and this brief paragraph from Jay sums it up nicely. I would live and raise my family in Wallingford without a second thought. Schools are good -national rating for 2008 both rate 8 out of 10. one school in Meriden rated a 5! and of course RT5 has everything you might ever need without having to travel out of town.
