Thinking of changing the title to this thread.. Let me see what Jay thinks.

Here's a quick pic I just took. Not much action lately. Had a tree guy drop off some Maple logs the other day. Can't wait to bring out the splitter and start splitting again.

Neighbor plowed me out one big snowstorm we had so I told him to take a row of wood.

Was just about to post in this thread..

Just lit the stove and was discussing with my wife its been awhile since we had a fire..

I'm guessing maybe a cord or so burned so far this year and its all been crap wood like maple and ash. Our cord of red oak has barely been touched this year...

No way! I'm at 2.75 cords. You sure only 1? Did you use the furnace?

There were weeks where I needed Cherry for a hot lasting burn

Got Ash in the stove cruising at 600*F.....a toasty 80* in the living room. Thinking maybe I should bring another wheel barrow load into the garage for this weekend.....gotta run some 2-cycle thru the saw to cut to length.

Been so hectic with work and family that I have been running the furnace a lot this year. I also did a ton of energy efficiency upgrades to the house like blown in insulation in the attic, spray foamed the basement, and replaced a few north facing windows. Been trying to get the house as airtight and insulated as possible and have noticed a huge difference. Cut the furnace run time down like crazy.

I still love burning wood though and just lit the stove and am cruising around 550 with some red oak right now.

I used Cherry last night and just threw another one in now. Chilly out there! 34° at 5:30pm while still daylight. Wind too.

Burning firewood like its a mid winter arctic blast and with snow on ground.

I don't remember when 2" of snow took this long to melt in March. 12.5°F this morning.

And I don't remember needing Cherry firewood this late or burning this much this late. Gees.

Funny to look back at this post. Had to tap into the red oak and have been burning like crazy the past few weeks and it looks like its going to continue...

I have been shortening up the stack in the garage. Not the 1/2 cord I usually have....more like a wheel barrel full....burn as we need.
