Popped Collars in Milford?
A friend of mine moved to CT about a year ago. I asked her about Milford because I am interested in moving there and she said that it is somewhat uppity up with guys wearing polo's with collars popped.
I realize this is a generality but is it a true one?
This, to me, usually resembles pretty boy and/or wealthier snooty guys? (I realize I am being completely superficial with this comment, but I am curious.)

I have not seen popped collars in years anywhere- sort of a dated look.
Perhaps in parts of Fairfield county you may run into a few from the Yacht club or golf course with that look and attitude- not likely in Milford.

Milford is not a "uppity" type town. It is a nice middle class community with all types of people. There are wealthy and there are even poor. It has a nice mix. As for polo shirts with the collars turned up, like skytrakker, I haven't seen that look in years, not even in "uppity" Fairfield County. Jay

not all of them are preppy, most of them, as well as the girls, just love going to the beach, but there is a healthy mix of....well every crowd here....minimual violence, luckily, but my point being, even the snobby people are out numbered!

Coming back
I've started seeing that look here and there, mostly on college students who are too young to remember that it went out of style a long time ago.
I can't imagine there is an entire town where the men all wear their shirt collars popped up.

I know that sounded like a whole new level of snuttiness...(which is also a threat)...but my permenant address has always been in Milford and as a "homegrown" Milfordite, back from my travels abroad after college, am saddened every day by news of our having to give up HONORABLE historical traditions/memorials, not just to move into the "2000's", but to be more careful not too hurt anyones feelings when they move here....I apoligize for blowing my steam at you...there ARE good people here, more so then anywheres else I've found so far...

In college, popped collars was always the "frat" boy look, and if you wanted to be extra tough there's always the "double pop" style. Yes, you guessed it 2 shirts 2 popped collars

I grew up in Milford and back then (late 70s, 80s, 90s) it was predominantly middle class with a good chunk of working class mixed in with some wealth, mainly the people living right on or near the water. As housing prices shot up in Fairfield County, more people moved into Milford as a more affordable solution which bumped up Milford's upper middle class. Is it a snooty town? Not by any means. It is a very down to earth place with little pretention. There is still a good mix of working class and regular middle class people along with some affluence which is one reason it is still a great little city.
