Yeah Connecticut lacks hippies, thank God for me, here we have yuppies. If you want hippies, go to Massachusetts.

FireOnHigh is seemingly closer to the truth than you might think. There are a lot of yuppie types around here. But probably not more than any where else, and as has been stated elsewhere on these boards (speaking in great generalities obviously) people in New England tend to be less materialistic than in a lot places in this country. See the ridiculously long running garbage disposals in CT thread for more on this. So while there may be no one "Hippy Haven" here in CT, there are plenty of places where people who have more on their minds than making a fast buck and climbing the corporate ladder can be found. New Haven and Middletown are two that pop into my head.
The state also has a pretty thriving Folk Music scene which is often a good indicator of an area's granola level. Check out http://www.ctfolk.com/ for a listing of performances at local coffee houses and other venues that might attract such granola activity!

Maybe Old Lyme on the CT river LI sound junction. Old money and not give a rats behind. Yuppie dirt has not really infiltrated: yet! Some towns in Litchefield County or the Northeast corner by RI, MA border, but granola ???

Well the only place you'll find hippies in Connecticut is at the Roaring Brook Nature Center when they have one of them folk concerts XD
