Agreed; I would never sell a pet for something like that. There is definitely more to this story that needs to be heard.

This is obviously a very difficult situation. The elderly woman hasn't paid mortgages or taxes in years, yet has funds to fight in court for years over her multiple mortgages.

I am sure the new owner was probably told by his attorney to deny her access to secure his property rights.

But the big problem is a driveway can't be built in a day. Permits, lining up contractor's, etc. takes time. In the meantime, a fire could start, she could need ambulance attention. How the heck does she get her heat supplier in. Yes, new owner could allow emergency access but what if he isn't around when something happens. She put herself in this mess, but it seems some reasonable accommodation could take place for a little while at least.

Are all the facts out? Is this true? I haven't seen any of those assertions, or do you have local, inside knowledge??

He's probally making those conclusions based on the court records available online.

She's probally be finished off even quicker by being made homeless for not paying her taxes/bills. I'm not big into horses, but I been around them enough to know that those shown would fetch a couple/few grand anyway. Plus the fact that they are not inexpensive to maintain when she is on the news boo hooing about losing the land that was her driveway.

I find it strange that everyone wants her to sell off her pets for a potential few thousand, but no one is commenting on her old jaguar.

We don't know her whole situation, and I am not getting the sense that she wasn't paying all her taxes, just that there was a "dispute". Has she even said she can't afford a new driveway? I just had the impression that she was angry and frustrated because the town took away part of her property due to the "dispute". I'd be mad as hell, definitely "boo-hooing". We just don't know all the facts, I don't think it's fair to judge her at this point.

I tend to agree with you on this one.

I agree as well.. But my point just being that this has been ongoing for a LONG TIME. Like years... The property was not siezed and auctioned off overnight. So she knew for a LONG TIME that she was probally, or at least had the chance to, lose access to her driveway. She has spent A LOT of time and probally A LOT of money during whatever this "dispute" is about. She should have ALSO been spending some of that time coming up with a plan for her access to the other road for IF things in the dispute did not work to her favor. I'd assume living in an almost million dollar property that she's not brain dead. She should be smart enough to figure out the above, unless she is just totally delusional or stubborn.

And to be fair to her, it's actually the half ass reporting by the TV station that makes it seem more like "boo hooing" than the woman really. If you're going to report on something like this, report the WHOLE story. Like what the dispute is about and when it started. Not having the WHOLE story from both sides is not productive at all and not good jounalism, even though that's what I expect seeing as there's not much journalism in almost any news at all today.

I would also wonder if the new owner of the property just put up the chain for the heck of it, or if he did it because she continued using the driveway he now owned.

He probably put it up to limit his liability. Having someone travel over your property opens you up to many issues. The chain helps limit this. Jay
