well if you follow Whitney Ave., the part of New Haven that it borders is the wealthier part of New Haven anyways, so whether its close to New Haven doesnt matter on this subject. it only gets bad west of prospect st., and south of/including mill rock. now if you follow State St., there may be some areas that are iffy to some people, but that's not really a part of the neighborhood youre talking about anyways.

For a couple months from August-October 2008, I lived with my ex off of route 10 (forgot the exact name of the street unfortunatly, its exit 60 off the Merritt), pretty close to SCSU and less then a quarter mile from the Hamden/New Haven town line. Wasn't the best neighborhood, and a couple weeks after I moved back to Trumbull there was a robbery or a murder at a coinvence store that was right down the street. Its a little rough, imo.
