Hi Guys,

I notice that CL&P has an energy audit program here:

Connecticut Light & Power : Home Energy Solutions

I notice that they have a list of contractors who can do the energy audit here:

Can anyone suggest a good one that they've done business with?

What are some of the things that the contractor should do when they come work on my house? Thanks!

We had an energy audit done earlier this year by R. Pelton Builders. They did a good job and were very professional. They changed about half our light bulbs to energy efficent ones. They replaced weather stripping and even fixed our door to the garage which had become loose. They checked AC vents for leaks and redistributed insulation in the attic that was moved during some repairs. The only issue I had with them was that they did not fill out the paper work needed for a rebate properly. They gave me a form for appliances rather than central heating and AC. It took a coule of days but they got the form to me when I requested it. Jay

No, not really but my suggestion would be to call your Town Hall Offices and inquire if they have a free/discounted audit program for residents.

Last year, Fairfield provided the first 700-800 (not sure exact number) residents free audits and then an additional amount of residents received audits for $75 (or in that ballpark).
