Hi there,
I live in Hebron, CT and need to have my cuckoo clock repaired. I believe one of the chains is wound too tightly and therefore, the weight does not descend. This happened to me before when I moved the clock from one spot to another. Thus, I think this is not a big-time repair. Any suggestions? I have looked on the internet by doing a broad search but have come up empty. Will I have to travel far to get this repair done?
Thanks!
chonactis - I just had an old clock (not a cuckcoo) changed from electric to battery powered. There are not a lot to choose from in the Greater Hartford Phone Book. I called several places. Some specialize in grandfather clocks. None were in your area, so you will probably have to travel.
We ended up using Westfield Clock in Middletown (860-347-9577) who is a local guy who repairs clocks out of his home. He was very nice and not expensive. Our clock was not valuable, it was just sentimental.
If I remember correctly the Clock Shop in Manchester (860-645-9548) only does grandfather clocks.
In the newest Phone Book there is Clockworks by Bryan in glastonbury (860-633-0725) who was not listed in the phone book when I looked. There is also Ben's CLock Repair in Tolland (860-871-8083); Clark Jewelers in East Hartford (860-528-3832);and Time Past in South Windsor (860-289-2119).
There are a couple of places listed across the river: Bill Collins Jewelers in Cromwell; Avon Clock in Avon (860-678-1488); Professional Clock in Canton (860-693-4008); and James Standish in West Hartford (860-561-5599). Good luck, Jay

Have you checked to see if chain has come off sprocket, this happens if you move clock before drawing up weights. You can reach in there with short length of coat hanger.
