A few notes; I am surprised at how high the incomes are for Woodbridge and Burlington. I was also surprised that Burlington, Bethany, Simsbury, Monroe and Newtown had higher median HH incomes than Avon. I'm not shocked at the 3 highest (Weston, Darien and New Canaan) or the 3 lowest (Hartford, New Haven, Windham).

Yea this is sort of funny, but compared to Maryland CT really does not match up well in the income category. Your wealthiest county wouldn't even break Maryland's top 5. If Fairfield County were re-located to the state of Maryland it would be the 8th Richest County in Maryland.
I thought a comparison was very interesting considering the stereotypes we are feed about the State of CT vs a southern State like MD. The data does not really back up the stereotype when placed next to this southern powerhouse state, but in generally CT, is
much wealthier and educated than
most states.
BTW** This comparison came up in a Maryland Forum, so i figure i'd add it to the CT forum

There are a lot of business owners in CT especially lower Fairfield County. Business owners rarely make less than $50,000 a year so you have to take that into consideration that the revenue generated from a business helps inflate these numbers. In fact, I'm curious looking at this list what the store : resident ratio is.
In other words, head to the town of Canaan(which I love by the way) and you'll find less business owners than a town like greenwich.

Government. Glad to see my tax money is making people in Maryland rich, while government impoverishes the rest of the country.
