Hi all,

I am recently out of college and looking to rent an apartment in the South Windsor area, as I am starting a job in East Hartford soon. However, I have not had any luck finding any apartment complex information online (searching "apartments for rent in South Windsor CT yields nothing!). As I am not from the area, this has made apartment hunting difficult. Does anyone have any apartment names, phone numbers, websites, or any info on finding an apartment in South Windsor? I am looking for a two bedroom in the 1000k/month range, if that helps.

I am also looking into apartments in Rocky Hill and West Hartford, though I heard the latter generally has higher rent. My priorities are safety, safety, safety. I do not want to be afraid to walk around at night, and want to live in a low crime area. As I am a recent grad with no children, things like having a good school system, etc. are not important to me at this time.

Any information on these areas (Rocky Hill, West Hartford, and especially South Windsor) - apartments or not, would be so highly appreciated!

Thank you!!

First, there aren't a lot of apartments in south windsor which is why you aren't finding any.

Second, if you are working in EH, I wouldn't be commuting from WH or Rocky Hill if you don't have to.

Third, Manchester and Glastonbury have rentals. The 2bed for $1,000 will be tough.

In general, Connecticut does not have a lot of large scale apartment complexes. Most of the multi-families in South Windsor are condos so you would have to find an owner looking to rent. Check craigslist.com. Most of Manchester would be safe and there are a number of complexes there. Rocky Hill is a good choice too but it may be out of your price range. Also, as Uconn97 suggested Glastonbury has a couple of apartments but they may be pricey. Jay

All three towns you are searching in are safe and desirable to live in, by general standards.

There are no apartment complexes in South Windsor. If you must rent in South Windsor, your best bet would be to search on Craigslist for a private rental, but I wouldn't expect too much. Nice town, though.

With that said, have you considered Vernon? I had just recently lived there for two years, alone, and it is a safe town with nice people. It would only be about 10-15 min from East Hartford, and there are numerous affordable apartment complexes to choose from. Finding a 2 br for $1,000 is very realistic (and possibly, generous), in Vernon.

I would forget about West Hartford, as it is overpriced and you likely won't find a 2-br for $1,000. However, it is possibly in Rocky Hill.

Vernon is a good suggestion. Also note that the commute from West Hartford to East Hartford requires traveling through downtown Hartford which would not be fun. West Hartford is nice but not worth the difficult commute if you can avoid it. Jay

I lived in Century Hills in Rocky Hill for a year-- it was around $1000 and not a bad place. The commute wouldn't be too bad to East Hartford, either. If you took the Rt. 3 bridge you could cut out Hartford entirely. I also lived at Stepney Place on the Silas Deane (also in R.H.), that place was nice as well. Very reasonable prices.

You call some dingy nothing fancy apartments at stephney place to be "reasonably priced" There over $1,000 month for a 1 bedroom. Electricity and cable would add another 150 bucks to that. If you earn around minimum wage at a service job(most jobs in the u.s. economy are service jobs) at 40 hours a week, your ENTIRE check for the entire month wouldn't cover even the rent. Forget about food, a car(neccessity in rocky hill), gas ect. Central CT is seriously overpriced.
