I personally don't mind tile, but it can be cold on the feet. Are you thinking of radiant flooring?

It can be cold even with slippers, ours certainly is. I keep a small area rug in front of the sink.

I too find tile to be cold on the feet. Wood has a warmer feel plus I prefer the look (though ours are in really bad shape after 15 years of heavy wear and tear). Modern radient heat is a vast improvement over the old stuff which failed due to poor materials and design. It could be simply added to the underside of the floor if there is an accessible area below. Then again since you are planning on renting it, it may not be worth the cost. Jay

Yes it can...for sure.

And people wonder why they say it's "cold" up here. Things as small as this can be a shock to someone from NC or FL.
