First of all, it looks like theres less than 15" on the roof and I can verify that by looking at snow totals in the area.
Secondly.. It looks to have buckled in the middle of the home which raises the question about structural support ie: columns or main header.
Thirdly.. was the home owner underwater with his mortgage? lol..
Lastly... I would go to town hall and see how and who inspected the home when it was built.
I can't wait to see details of this story. Hopefully someone will find out and post it here. Thanks

Hi - this WAS our house. It had no mortage - paid for. But we're out of a job ...was at the time, and still. so insurance was cancelled. Bad decision. Got nothing for house or belongings inside. House was built in early '60's. Not new. Never had a problem with anything in house. House was not abandoned nor in major dsrepair. Yes, it needed outside and inside painting and sprusing. But without a job these things were on hold. No one got hurt, thank god. My son was able to climb out the back window with the help of a fireman. But we were not able to reenter the property.
And as for all the Saturaday night quarterbacking about what we should or should not have done, hind sight is always 20-20.
Final result is that we had to sell the land quick [nothing for the house] so that we could afford to have a fence put up around the property and the house knocked all the way down and removed. [Fire dept. required this ASAP!! or hire police to stand guard 24hrs a day-$$$!] Want to guess how much was left?! Zip.
