Default Ellington Vs Somers

Weve narrowed it down to these 2 towns.

Theyre both beuatiful.

The smell in Ellington is horrendous....but I like Crystal Lake

good to see you are on the verge of a decision;

I live next to Ellington, and the 'smell' you detest is not a continuous event; it happens in the spring sometimes. Ellington is larger then Somers by about 3,000 people (13,000 to 10,000)

Ellington is growing fast- as it is a popular bedroom community of Hartford, while Somers is considered at least by Money Magazine as one of the best small towns in America to live.

Actually, you cannot go wrong with either town. For something even more sedate and rural consider Bolton as well, which I feel is more scenic then the two towns above.

Does Ellington still have that smell? If I remember correctly it is from the farms in the area. I think it can be considered part of the town's charm. Anyway, both are excellent towns and you have made a good choice. Let us know where you end up. Good luck, Jay

The smell o' Cowpoop in the mornin', I guess I can see how it could be mistaken for charm.

Anyway lots of McMansions popping up....that was the beginning of the end for rural LI.Im actually more concerned with the overdevelopment in Ellington.

I do like the Vistas in Ellington and closeness to 84. well see.

Thanks for the insight

Your concerns about Ellington are founded.
Again consider Bolton, Willington and Coventry- and your other choice Somers.
Nothing against Ellington, believe me but a few too many 'Mc Mansions' perhaps being built.
