Okay Connecticutites, nutmeggers, or whatever else you so deside to be referred to as. I have been meandering along your highways and side roads (or idling in traffic in the latter). It became clear that a lot of the low income towns have odd or ugly names. Meriden, Ansonia, Seymour, Naugatuck, Willimantic, and others). What is your take on the possible gentrification of these suburbs if the names were changed to something easier on the ears? Can it be done by Connecticut statute?

I think the Native American tribes, historical figures and town founders' who are the namesakes of these towns might disagree...

How would changing the name of a town help anything? What a waste of money for something so pointless. I agree with ATTW3.

Oh and FYI - Seymour is NOT a low-income town.

Oh bloody heck, it was just an inquiry. Don't get all bunched up. If your town is ugly, you know it. Since you dislike my interest, don't post. Simple and easy!!

It's so funny they get wiped out and their towns are named in their honour

Seymour and Naugatuck are rather middle class, not low income.

Now that you mention this topic however, I am beginning to think that your theory may actually have some credence. Look at most of the Fairfield County towns. They have nice names, and have high income. Hmmm.....

THANK YOU! Finally someone who can interpret what I'm trying to say. Ansonia sounds like a Middle Eastern country, Seymour a department store from 1992, and Meriden sounds like the nickname for a public bathroom on the Gaza Strip. So ugly.

I don't think Darien or Trumbull are particularly nice names. Shelton and Monroe are a little different, as well. To the contrary, I think Bridgeport is a really nice name, but we all know what the deal is there.
