You're in CA now? Expect humidity as the weather gets warmer.

As far as the cold goes, it can vary, and even in the winter time it may vary daily. We have had a very cold and much more snowy winter than in a while Last Friday was about 60, or close, then Saturday was back down in the 30's and the winds were high which made it feel much colder. We have had had temps in single digits and even a few negatives.

Just be aware that the temperature can change as I mentioned above. If you move here in say December and it happens to be 60 out that day, don't get used to it and don't be suprised if you wake up the next day to 20 degrees.

ETA: on the other hand if you moved here in the summer and it's 50 degrees that day, don't expect that will necessarily stay that way either.

Most likely you will have better weather to welcome you than we have right now, but beware of the winters that will be ahead.

The movie theatre in Bloomfield shows Indian movies on a few screens each week and that is close to West Hartford as well.

Aspen Woods is located in the Buckland Hills section of Manchester right off I-84. The area is a major regional shopping areas (probably the largest in CT) with a mall, a lot of shopping centers, movie theaters and most major chain restaurants. Because of this, traffic can be heavy around this area.

Before JViello jumps on me, I am telling the OP this so he is aware of the issue. I will say that traffic here is not like you would find in major metro areas in CA but it is heavy and at times will be an issue. The apartment complexes in the area are very nice and fairly new. The only thing missing in this immediate area would be a supermarket but they are only a few miles away. Plus there is a BJ's and Sams Club in the immediate area that could replace the need for a supermarket.

As for weather, well it is cold here for several months of the year. We just had one of the snowiest winters on record (actually we are in the middle of it) but as long as you are prepared for it, it should not be a problem. Jay

Rocky hill and cromwell should be fine for you. I would stay away from New britain. I live in glastonbury, a great town but for renting maybe a little out of your price range, maybe not. Wethersfield is good too.

Okay okay, I'll pass on the traffic thing for now.

There is a supermarket (Stop and Shop) exactly 1.9 miles up the road in South Windsor and another 1.8 miles the other direction in the Manchester Parkade AND a Big Y 2.2 miles away on Tolland Tpk. I'd say that's a lot of options pretty close.

Welcome to Connecticut! Everyone has their own reaction to the weather, but I personally think that Connecticut's climate is great, with four well-balanced seasons. One thing to keep in mind is that the east coast is better set up to deal with cold than the LA area (I moved to Connecticut after living there for a few years). My apartment out west was drafty and cold whenever it got even mildly chilly outside. Here you will typically find much better insulation. Driving in the snow can be a major pain, but I'm sure your kid will love the snow days.

Just be prepared that Hartford seems *really* small after LA.
