Your questions are kind of vague. What specifically do you want to know? New Haven is a large city with a wide variety of neighborhoods. Downtown is generallly safe and is a very popular place to live with its many amenities and central location.

Fair Haven is an interesting diverse neighborhood. It seems to be trying to improve but I am not sure how successful it is. There seem to be issues there with safety. Others here may know more.

North Haven is a separate town north of New Haven. It is very suburban in character and considered a nice place to live. It is more family oriented and fairly quiet. I hope htis helps. Jay

In other words, it's dangerous.

Where exactly is Fair Haven? We did a birthday party at a rock gym in Science Park and saw a lot of businesses with "New Hall" on them along the way. Was I near there? If so, I didn't see anything wrong during the day but could see issues in the evening.

Fair Haven is south of interstate 1-91 and in the east central to south east portion of New Haven. It is bordered by the Quinnipiac River to the south and east. It is not somewhere you would want to live. Newhallville is sort of north central in New Haven near the town of Hamden line. You also don't want to live there. The most highly desirable residential areas of New Haven are East Rock, Westville and Morris Cove. Morris Cove is not as convenient as East Rock or Westville for proximity to restaurants, night life, etc.
