I'm from bronx, NY I'm thinking about relocating to connecticut but i know nothing about it. I'm looking for a single family home a 3br at 300k. i'm looking to be in a nice area to raise kids, a good school system, and close to shopping, restaurants, and movies.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

For what your requirements are- the best place would be central Connecticut/ Greater Hartford area.

We are moving to Stratford, CT. It's just west of Milford, east of Bridgeport and Fairfield. You can get something in your price range there. We don't have children so I don't know firsthand about the schools, but from what I understand, Stratford Academy (public elementary school open to all Stratford residents) is pretty good.

What do you do for work and where would you work? It may help in determing where you live. How far from the city do you want to be. If you need to be within commuting distance, then Fairfield County would be where you would want to live. But be warned, the closer to New York, the more expensive it is. 300k will not buy you much.

The closest place where you could buy anything for 300k would be Stamford, then Norwalk and possibly Fairfield. Bridgeport and Stratford would be next, but you are getting to a point where the train trip into Manhatten would be over an hour. Anyway, if you could provide us with more information we could help. Jay

I also live in Stratford and have been here 15 years! For 300k you might be pushing your luck here since it is in fairfield county however if you go a couple miles north into the valley, towns like Derby may meet your criteria if your looking to stay near the coast. If not, anything off the coast should be fine
