Best food markets in Mystic/Stonington
Could anyone help me with two pieces of information:
-- the best (highest quality) supermarket in Mystic and/or Stonington?
-- the best fish and meat markets in those two towns?
Thanks for your help!!

I did some research on supermarkets known in New England- the 'big stores';Stop & Shop, Shaw's, The Big Y and others- found none, for Mystic or Stonington.
Best bets would be to shop in Groton- a few miles away; There is a Super Stop & Shop and a Big Y. Both these stores sell high quality produce, groceries and seafood.
Hope this helps. There could be smaller stores locally that sell seafood and groceries.

There is McQuade's Marketplace on Carla Place off Coogan Boulevard in Mystic. I remember it being pretty nice. Haven't been by there in a while though. Jay

Thanks for your responses.
We took a trip to Mystic/Stonington last week, and discovered that the McQuaid's (sp?) is very nice, although not quite at the level of Whole Foods or Wegmans. For freshest fish, we were directed to Rasmussen's in Mystic.

Groceries in Mystic/Stonington
McQuade's market off Coogan Blvd near the Hilton is a very good, locally owned grocery store.
Puritan and Genesta Natural Foods on corner of Main St in Mystic by the Flagpole is -obviously - a natural and organic food store. With natural supplements too. A bit more expensive of course, but great hours, service and fine selection of food: fresh, frozen and packaged, much of it local.
There is an A&P, only a few years old on Rte 1 just east of Mystic on the way to Pawcatuck.
There is a Stop and Shop in Pawcatuck on Rte. 1
As noted earlier Groton has a Stop and Shop and Big Y. A new Stop and Shop (Super) is planned for exit 92 area within the next year or so.
Fresh fish at Cove Fresh Fish Market on Old Stonington Rd just off Rte. 1 east of Mystic. And you can certainly buy fresh fish in Stonington Borough where CT's last commercial fishing fleet is headquartered.

Thanks again for these extra bits of information.
My mistake: it was Grossman's, not Rasmussen's, that was recommended.
