Stay in Northampton

Windsor is a fine town- but Northampton is just far better.

Northhampton is a beautiful town. Sorry you are leaving it. Windsor is a nice town located immediately north of Hartford. Because of its location, it (and neighboring Bloomfield) does have some neighborhoods with issues similar to those in Hartford. The schools, while good, also have these issues. If you are looking for a community that is similar to Northhampton in feel, I would recommend West Hartford. West Hartford has excellent schools and great shopping, restaurants and parks. It is one of the nicest suburbs of Hartford, but can be more expensive than Windsor. Other options for towns near Windsor would be South Windsor, East Granby, Granby, Simsbury and Avon. All very nice towns. We have friends that grew up in Northampton and they love Glastonbury (not that it is really that similar to Northampton). If you give us an idea of what you are looking for and a price range, we can help you better. Good luck, Jay

Windsor actually is a very pleasant town- the center of town and Main Street are very nice- with a hometown small town feel-

I agree with Jay about the schools- they have issues that hopefully have been resolved from when I worked in the system.

The town has some rather ' less then desirable' areas in the southern third near the Hartford line.

There are some towns locally, east and west of the CT river that are better choices.

Windsor vies with Wethersfield as the first settled town in the state (1633-34)

Welcome to CT. Northampton native here. I still miss Northampton but I am enjoying living in CT. Consider West Hartford as it has a small "downtown" that reminds me of Northampton but in a smaller scale. Once again welcome.
