I'm originally from Massachusetts, but I've lived on LI for 2 years now. My girlfriend is a native Long Islander, and we're planning on moving to the quiet corner. I know it sounds silly but the one thing I hear from people who move to other areas away from Long Island is that they miss things like New York pizza. I also hear complaints that people may have to drive a few extra miles to get to a supermarket, but when they lived on LI they complained incessantly about the traffic especially in Nassau County where we are now. To be honest with you, it's been a difficult transition to the pace of life on Long Island and I cannot wait to move to a more peaceful area.

It seems like a quick enough visit for a pizza fix.

You would think so, but people feel the need to complain Again like I've said I've only heard silly things like that. I don't really put much stock into complaints like that.

If you are moving to the Quiet Corner...I think about that LAST thing an Ex-Long Islander will worry about is where to get a pizza. You arent moving to the Quiet Corner for NY amenities...

This is true.

Were looking for less.

Do these figures sound right from Somers

2-2.5 hrs to NYC/LI
1.5 to Boston
1.5 to Atlantic Beaches RI
.5 to Hartford/Springfield/ProRI

You alos may miss bakeries. There are not a lot of them around this part of Connecticut. Also New York style deli's. Jay

But you see the problem is that they want NY amenities with the peace that the quiet corner offers. It's typical human nature where they want to have one's cake and eat it too.

Yes, those figures are pretty much correct, I never thought Somers was
part of the quiet corner though. Area's surrounding 395 typically get that
name.

You'll find a variety of pizza one town over in Enfield, or you could venture
to Springfield as well, 30 minutes away.

In Vernon, 2 towns south of Somers, you'll find Rein's Deli, good
luck finding a seat!
