I'm just perplexed as to why mediocre places like Elbow Room stay in business... That alone says something about the tastes of West Hartford Center nightlife.

The real appeal of that place comes from the rooftop seating. Both the food and the vibe of that place are so-so and IMO it doesn't really sum up the nightlife there. Like McLaddens it's geared toward a younger crowd so it fills up, and it's places like this I dont' spend much time in for that reason. But if people don't enjoy the vibe around there, there's always Park Road, downtown Elmwood or bishops corner, downtown Hartford, etc.

Park Road really does seem to be getting it's own stride these days doesn't it?

I think it is. It's def. alot nicer than it was before Plan B opened. I lived on Kane Street a few years ago and back then it was dead, kinda dingy and not really anyplace worth going to. Now there's PlanB, new Mexican restaurants, the hookah lounge, I read Joey Garlic's pizza is going in where Barb's used to be, the old Bazillians is reopening as a wine store, it works. The only downside is the parking SUCKS. There's no parking meters but it can be a real adventure trying to find anything over there.

I really like the neighborhood alot too - if I ever decide to buy a house, that area will be one of the first areas to look at.

I'm moving to go to UCONN Greater Hartford this fall. This neighborhood (the West End) is full of young people, cool safe places, and dive bars right?

If West Hartford is full of wannabe Jersey Shore kids and overpriced apartments then I do not want to move there.

West end is fine. Try to stay north of FarmingtonA ve and you'll be good. On this road they have some really good spots like Tisane, Moe's Midtown, Monte Albans, Half Door (on Sisson Ave).

It's not. There's a few people who have that attitude since they come from these spoiled, overprivileged families so they engage in douchebaggery, but overall it's fine. I wouldn't live here if it were really a problem. The places in WHC we talked about earlier can be crowded, but the cops here have zero tolerance for unruly behavior.

It's probably more expensive than Hartford, but it's also probably safer.

Since when are guidos "ghetto"? If anything, they're pretentious fools.
