Default Commute from Watertown to Danbury?

We are relocationg to CT soon and my husband will be commuting to Danbury. We stumbled upon Watertown and both really liked the town. Is this a doable commute to Danbury each day? Also, can anyone recommend other towns in the area similar to Watertown? (We are looking to spend around $450k for a house.)

TIA!

Sort of. I-84 can be free flowing or a mess, depending on random events. If he already does a congested city commute it probably won't be terrible.

I try not to go to Danbury during anything like rush hour, because the odds are against a free flowing trip. Heading east in the afternoon there tends to be a persistent bottleneck in Newtown that may impede his commute.

That said, it's not a terrible commute most days. The worst part of 84 is in and east of Waterbury, and if you live in Watertown, you should be able to avoid that.

Watertown is about 30 miles from Danbury along I-84. During rush hour I-84 can bog down a bit in danbury, so it depends where your husband would be working. If it is in the east end of Danbury, there should be little problem, but iof it nearer the New York line, he will have to allow a little extra time.

If you like Watertown, check out New Milford. It is about 15 miles north of Danbury and has a charming downtown (it was featured in the Adam Sandler movie Mr. Deeds). The schools are good and there is a lot of shopping and restaurants. New Milford has its own small hospital and a lot of parks. homme prices ar epretty reasonable,. You should be able to get a nice home iin your price range.

Other towns to consider may be Brookfield and New Fairfield. Very nice town with very good schools and a lot of good restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Good luck, Jay
