We have lived in Brookfield for three years now. It is a fine small town. The schools are good. Their is plenty of places to shop and eat. The lakes are great. Brookfield really does not have any bad areas. It is next to Danbury, which has alot of activities and shopping alternatives. Overall you can't go wrong in Brookfield. Also, when the Super 7 is extended into New Milford, it will be even better. If you have any questions, let me know.

Good luck.

The town issues park passes during the summer for about 65 per year. The other thing is once you get to know more people in Brookfield, chances are you will have a friend who live in Candlewood Shores or Arrowpoint Beach and you will enjoy them as well. Of course when they invite you. Also many people have pools. The YMCA has three pools (1 outdoor and 2 indoors). So their are plenty of options.

I grew up in Connecticut and we moved to Tampa Florida a 2001. I would LOVE to move back. this heat and humidity here is killing me!! One of the areas we are starting to talk about is Bookfield and the other is Southbury.

PLease tell me everything... taxes, insurance, cl&p prices ( i heard they jumped) home prices in comparison to those in Southbury. We are thinking of possibly moving next year and only after the home we are in sells.

Thanks for you help!

Brookfield's mill rate for 2007-08 year is 17.96, which is pretty low compared to other towns. The electric rates are high, so it pays to conserve energy. The insurance should be much lower than Florida. Expect to pay anywhere from 800 to 1200 per year. I don't know much about Southbury, but from what I hear, it is another fine town.

Pizza places are good. John's best pizza in the shoprite mall is good. Also, the pizza from Rocco's is good as well.
