John Dempsey Hospital is surrounded by safe areas. Both West Hartford and Farmington/Avon have lots of options for you, all of which I would consider very safe. The bigger limitation that I would anticipate would be cost. That area can be very expensive depending on your tastes. There is a big shopping center (Westfield Mall, etc) in on the Farmingon/West Hartford border not far from the hospital.

I'm sure the school can help you out with their own recommendations. They might have some additional insight as well based on their experience advising students.

Most of West Hartford is really safe. It'd be a fine place to start looking. As mentioned it is not cheap, but you get a lot for your money.

Its between south whitney and sisson i believe. Its a quiet area 2 blocks from west hartford. To me its ok, but im from the city. For someone who is not use to city life it might feel unsafe. If I had a choice, i personally would not live in hartford.

Walcott street sounds familiar. I cant remember though. Sounds like its in west hartford though because i think walcott park is in west hartford.

Do you mean Wolcott Street in Hartford? If so, it is located off Park Street not far from Hartford Hospital. This is not a great area IMHO.

There is also a Wolcott Road in West Hartford that is near the Westfarms Mall. That area is nice. Jay

There is an apartment building (Westgate) on Farmington Av on the west side of WH. Not only would this be convenient to Dempsey (it may be on a bus line), it is right across from the Stop & Shop. Don't know anything about it other than it looks decent and the neighborhood is great.
