Theres just too many people here for the roads. Anytime you get alot of people here out & about at the same time it sucks. The fact that such a high percentage of people in lower FFld county commute southbound each morning & north each afternoon sure dont help either. Not much we can do though, given the fact that our thouroughfares pass thru dense developed areas. Be tough to turn 95 into a 10 or 12 lane highway like it needs to be at least from Bridgeport down to the NY border.

I've been there as well many times (my sister is a college professor in the Buffalo area and I often make a "side trip" when I visit her, sometimes to see some obscure relatives of mine there). Yes, they are definitely the "LA of Canada". I definitely agree!

As someone who does the reverse of that commute, I can say that right at the heart of rush hour the other direction isn't too great either (at least on 95, especially near exit 3, around exits 6-8 in Stamford and around exits 14-16 in Norwalk), but at least it's not for as long a length or time. On days where I had to be at work at 7:30-8am, I've seen the southbound sides of 95 and the Merritt in traffic as early as 7am or sometimes even earlier. Yikes!

Cambium, I tried to quote your U.S. density map, but for some reason it won't quote. Anyway, any time I comment here that Ct., particularly FFC, is overdeveloped, some argue with me and say it isn't. Some will even argue some parts of FFC are very rural! Sure, compared to cities, but compared to most of the U.S. it's all very densely populated. Easton is rural-ish, but it's only 5-10 minutes to shopping. I suppose one has to be a native Ct. resident or NYC native to consider Ct. even remotely under-developed, or rural. And it's no surprise that we have heavy traffic, particularly with so many commuters and people driving through our state.

Excuse me, having to travel on 401 from Richmond Hill to Mississauga everyday, I'll say GTA traffic is >>>>>>>>> Connecticut in every way.

Why? Because when you find 401 to be jammed from FM traffic you always have the choice of going to 407 which is essentially jam free.

If you get stuck on I95 where are you gonna go? Merritt Parkway LOL???! Or do you have james bond's aston martin and let it cruise on long island sound?

For the population density of CT to have that kind of jam is ridiculous IMHO.

One may say thats stretching it but a 10 Lane highway is now the point it needs to be. Adding 1 lane on each side could "help", but thats all its doing, its "helping" and not supporting the traffic. So I agree a 10 lane is whats needed. If nothing is done then a 12 lane will be needed eventually.

Then the issue is bottleneck. You cant have a 10 lane highway NY Border to Bridgeport then go into a 3 lane...Maybe past Milford it can go to a 3 lane.

I'm one for conserving nature and against eminent domain but at this point I am all for just flattening out areas around I95 from NY border to Milford. Open fields with a 10 lane interstate in Fairfield/New Haven County and now we have vehicles moving freely & truck loads delivering supplies on time. And jobs created since we'll need to rebuild around it again.

I-95 Southbound was standstill between Exits 10 and 5 which is about 4 miles and so was the Merrit and so was post road. Friggin Saturday at 1pm..

Took OVER an hour to drive 4 miles (<<<thats not a typo you California people reading this) its anyday, any time, all the time!!

There is an accident or a plume of traffic E.V.E.R.Y.D.A.Y! !!!

Sorry I was chilling out in the peabody museum all Saturday and flirting with the New Haven dames

Anyway, fricking I-95 made me miss a 420$ flight once. Will never forget. I-95 is out of control. Also, they are building something near the Arch street Exit 3. I wonder why they can't find people to work all night instead and save commuters some serious headache

Anyway, I may have ended up causing the same in northbound I-95. Luckily, the commuters were saved and I gained control of my car.

There's a huge porn star banner near Exit 42 LMAO

It has nothing to do with the way people drive. TOO MANY CARS FOR THE ROAD. Simple.

It was like that back in 1992-2000 when I was working in Stamford. The state is too busy building useless busways to be bothered with any REAL traffic problems. Get used to it.

Welcome to the Future I-95 in CT Stamford area.. A new look, a new feel, take a deep breath.

Instead of getting off Exit 9 and being able to make a right towards cove beach.. Now you have to go around so there's no backup at the exit. lol
