DH is from CT and he says that people there do not say the word "bum" (as in butt, rear end, etc).
Is this true? We live in MA...he says it's a MA thing...I disagree. Who is right?
Sorry, I know this is a silly question

HA!!! I thought "bum" was a Canadian thing. I'm from Montreal, I say "bum," and everyone looks at me like I have two heads when I say it, and then exclaim, "Oh yeah! You silly Canadians say 'bum' instead of 'butt' or 'ass'."

I guess I'll feel right at home when we move to MA in August!

It depends on where you are in the state. Down county, i've heard "tuckus" more than a few times. @ss, butt and fanny seem to be the most common. Bum is the guy pushing a shopping cart and drinking a 40 ouncer on a city street.

I never hear anyone use the word "bum," to describe bowels. In my vocabulary, a "bum" is someone who is a loser and/or doesn't contribute to society in a positive manner.

I hear "bum" a lot here, but then again I know a lot of people who have lived in Europe. I used to hear it when I lived in England, I thought maybe it was English. I never hear "tuckus" or "fanny" here in FFC. Interesting thread!
