Default Marlborough Center

I was just checking out Marlborough and noticed plans for a center à la Glastonbury. Is ground being broken for this or is it still in the conceptual stage?

It certainly looks like a nice plan Iska
Smaller scale then Glastonbury- but even more pretty.

I don't think that this is so much a "plan" that is going to be built. Rather, something designed by the town of Malborough as far as zoning districts, guidlines, and regulations to encourage such development.

Exactly. The town has bought quite a bit of land along Rt. 66 so they can develop it how they see fit so developers won't be deciding the town aesthetic. There are also very strict zoning laws in place and as far as I know they do have a ten year plan to develop the town center.

Iska - I believe this is a plan that shows what could be done to create a cohesive village center in Marlborough as it develops. It is not a project yet. It will be used as a guide for future development of the area. Jay

Default 1963-64

Hello,

I lived in Marlborough for a while in 1963-64.
I assumed I went to RHAM High during that time (sophomore year), but, I
can't seem to find any records.
Would anyone know what school someone who lived Marlborough would have been bused to 45 yrs ago?
Appreciate any help.

Ken Jones

Marlborough wants to build the center but needs sewers and public water to accomodate the planned development. I love Marlborough after moving from Long Island.

The latest news from what i understand is that the public utilities have to be upgraded. the sewer contract is just going out to bid and water should be within mid-2008.

i have heard issues about putting in a % of affordable housing in order to get addl grants from CT. Not sure how that is going to play out.

I grew up in Marlborough, all my schooling 1st thru 12th grades, and although I don't live there now, I do plan/hope to at some point down the road again. I say NO! Marlborough IS MARLBOROUGH. If the YUPPIES want to CHANGE it, TELL THEM NO, an EMPHATIC NO!! Yuppies: SELL your house, and MOVE to Glastonbury or somewhere that ALREADY meets the criteria you desire. There is a REASON Marlborough IS , and I PRAY, ALWAYS stays, sidewalkless and boonie-esque: THAT'S IT 'S CHARM!!(and isn't why you moved there in the first place?!!). In the face of bloated real-estate values, and bank/mortgage rate availability, and FAR greater costs to commute ANYWHERE, no to mention HEATING your house, I suspect the 'desire' to spend huge amounts of cash on travelling to and from work in the 'city', not to mention on the 'ruinous to Marlborough's HISTORIC and REAL, C-O-U-N-T-R-Y SOUL and CHARM' project, will, and has (hopefully) , been STIFLED...... Enough already with the all too typical need to see a patch of grassy field or thickly wooded forest, and feel the Obsessive Compulsion to plow it under, or cut it down, and put a parking lot on it (or sidewalk, house, business park, etc....). I LOVE walking alongside to ROAD, NOT sidewalks!! I'm starting the "SAVE MARLBOROUGH FROM ITSELF" Campaign 2008 = T-O-D-A-Y ....

I guess you don't like change. Sorry but things do change with time and any town that is as nice as Marlborough and as well located WILL change. Sorry but that is just the way it is. Jay
