I heard there was some sort of legal problem with this one (Orange residents were against the location & increase in traffic?). That's a shame, because my wife & I sorely miss the store after moving from Danbury to Stratford.

Darn. Well, I'll still be working in Westport, so it's easy enough for me to hit Stew's before going home. It really is a great place for produce and meats. Much better than Stop and Shop!!!

When I worked in Westport I use to frequent Stew's at lunch time for their hot food bar. Their prepared foods were always really good.

Great staff, too. I remember something about Stew Leonard being voted one of the best employers in the country..!

We'd heard of Stew's, so we stopped by to pick up a gallon of milk. $85 later, we walked out in a daze. The place is great.

$85? You got off easy. My sister goes there and drops hundreds and she goes every other week. Everything is good quality and the prices can be good as well for the level of quality you get. I have managed to keep my wife away from the Norwalk store, but now they are opened in Newington and we may need to check it out one of these days. Jay

I should've mentioned that was 17 years ago. We've since moved away from Norwalk, but occasionally go to Stew's in Yonkers.
But not very often. It's not the same as Norwalk. The place is always packed, the parking lot impossible, it's very expensive and the store has no charm. It's a shame.

I think what makes the Norwalk & Danbury Stew Leonard's great is their country setting. The Yonkers store does not have this. That is why is not the same.

The Newington store is doing well. Stew went to Westminster in Simsbury so he knows the Hartford area.
