Westport. Great beaches, shopping, restaurants, entertainment, schools. Access to 95, Metro North. I made La Guardia in 49 minutes last week

Took you that long? I've done it in 40 from Westport without traffic.

I know it goes without saying, but just in case; lets exclude the cities.
Darien, becoz I hang out there way too often. It's almost become an ambition to buy my house in Darien some day. I love that little downtown.

Then, Greenwich. I'm involved with a girl who lives there and she's taking me around the town a lot.

Otherwise, I don't know much of CT. I hate Stamford, that's for sure

Not just that. I don't get the New England feel there. It's very immigrant-ish. If I wanted to be among Indians, I'd have stayed in India

Fortunately, people in my home state aren't so socially awkward and whacked out like the Stamford Indians. Particularly the imbeciles who clutter around the Stamford downtown park next to the town center/mall area.

I scouted around there several times and I found my answer as to why they are quite stuck up and aloof - mostly northern folks (the hindi speaking crowd, marathi and bengali and some oriya) and gultus (from the southern state of Andhra Pradesh). Gultus take the cake as the most socially inept in the old country.

There are so many better small/medium downtowns in CT than Darien. You been to New Canaan or Westport's downtowns?

Or Ridgefield, Bethel, Milford, West Hartford, Middletown, Madison, Branford, Kent, Mystic, Essex, etc. etc.

Lots of nice, quaint downtowns without the extreme price premium of Darien. Unless you work in NYC, there's really no point to spend that much.

Darien is ruled out in the near future. Impossible. Unless my stocks pay off. But it could take years. I'm gonna have to round up a start-up home and then move with the family to a bigger home by the time I'm 40 or so.

I like nice little towns, but I am always thinking of the commute to work in the city. Darien takes me 50. Greenwich 35.

That said, I'm gonna have to start going on my downtown tours again, and bring back pictures. I haven't gone out on a photography adventure in months.
