Lebanon CT. - Pros vs. Cons?
Hubby and I have been hunting for horse property for the past year. We finally found something within our budget in Lebanon.
I've lived in CT. my whole life, but do not know anything about that area. We have no children, so schools are not an issue.
It looked pretty rural, so we were wondering about Dr's. Dentists, Vets. Ease of getting to a main highway. My husband works in Hartford.
Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Lebanon is a charming rural community and should be very nice to live there. It is about 30 miles from Hartford and is somewhat remote (not near major highways). If it wasn't it probably would not be so rural and reasonably priced. That commute would take about 45 minutes to an hour during rush hour. The trip depending on where in Lebanon you live woulf be mostly back road to Route 2 into Hartford. Not sure if that is a problem for you. Most shopping and services would be found in nearby Colchester which has become sort of the center of this largely rural portion of th state. For big shopping needs you may have to travel further. PS - We were in Lebanon last weekend for their Annual Fair and it was great. Jay

POAlover
Lebanon is a very rural town in eastern Connecticut's New London county- it is part of the states 'quiet corner'- with a mostly rural landscape of forest, pasture and a few farms, with limited services in the town itself.
The closet town you would find services would be Willimantic, Colchester, and thirdly Norwich (the largest town).
If one commutes to Hartford, the best and quickest route would be route 2.

POAlover,
My wife and I have lived in Lebanon for the past 7 years. We built our house here, and love it! We used to live in Glastonbury, but moved out here for more space and slower pace, which remarkably we have after moving such a short distance. Lower taxes, low population density, EXCELLENT town green to walk around(walking/jogging path 1.56 miles around) and good schools. Your main towns to shop at will be Willimantic and Colchester. 35 minutes to Hartford, easy commute on route 2 if you leave home early enough (7-7:30 am).
