OK Fed's, let's see the $. I can think of a lot of things they waste money on that are far less useful.

Anders said in recent times, the New Haven Line's fastest growing customer groups are intrastate commuters who travel to employment hubs like Stamford and Greenwich, as well as reverse commuters who travel to Stamford and Greenwich from New York City.
I just wanted to quote this because I don't think a lot of people realize just how many Manhattanites make their way to Stamford and Norwalk each day. At DW's work, there is a considerable percentage of employees from the city who work daily in Stamford.

Yes the same can be said with NJT which is gaining ground on the MNRR.... Reverse Commuting is popular to hubs such as New Brunswick , Hackensack and Edison/Metropark. Hopefully even more reverse commuting happens....

Yeah, whatever. It's still like riding in a dumpster with the reliability of a yugo at the price of a limo and the service of the DMV. Try fixing ONE of those things and I'll be ecstatic.

I have to agree with SVT on this one. The line is way behind modern standards. MTA employees are paid ridiculously well for what they do. I'm pretty moderate politically, and lean fiscally conservative - but sometimes I wonder if these quasi-government/private agencies are even worse than the strictly government-run ones.

That said, if the federal government really wants to create a stimulus again - why not make a huge investment in rail in key areas? It would employ a lot of workers and improve local economies by making them more connected and opening up job opportunities for folks who can't afford to sell their house or move. Imagine true non-stop trains from every major station, getting you to Stamford in under 30 minutes and NYC in under 60 from New Haven? Rail improvements that allow for higher speeds (the new trains are capable of 100MPH but the rails aren't)? I guess it's too much to ask for.

Some of them are pulling in 6 figure salaries, and will be paid the same in pensions. The fact that the Metro North RR packs every train like a sardine can, charges ridiculous prices, and STILL comes in broke every year....ugh, just criminal. If for no other reason, we need to elect a real radical governor who will open a real investigation.
