It's nice to know that the Communist Party USA is still alive and thriving.

I don't get it, if corporations and extremely wealthy individuals use (and actively lobby for) loopholes in the federal & state laws (accidental & intentional) to boost their share of the wealth to infinity and beyond, it's Ok, there are no moral depravities and psychological disorders there, after all they "worked" for their loophole money.

If a poor black man gets a few hundreds bucks in accidental state "windfall" he is a symbol of all imaginary moral depravities and sins of "socialism" & welfare that are about to crumble this great nation, never mind that bottom 40% "owns" whopping 0.4% of the nation's wealth, never mind that we are full steam towards banana republic owned by top 1% of the most deserving individuals, poors ate your cake anyway and they are about to get your momma. And it's understandable, thousands of years of social selection breed humans who instinctively conformed to the hierarchical social order of things where top monkey gets (naturally) most of the loot as a small token of his superiority, bottom layers of monkeys are allowed to peck those on the lower perches to feel better about themselves (while salivating for a higher spot). Violence is only to "flow" from top to bottom of the hairless monkey pyramid. Bottom to top flow of violence is absolutely sacrilegious and ungodly.

This pathological need for somebody "inferior" (real or imaginary) to feel better about one's lot is especially evident among lower working classes "strategically" targeted by talk radio industry, $11/hr wage unit "knows" for sure that ghetto folks and socialists are responsible for the shrinking of his piece of a pie.

RememberMee,

The part of the FEMA fiasco that irritated me was that the people of Joplin had their relief money diverted to deal with the damage in the northeast from Irene. The people of Joplin lost many lives and lost everything they own. If funds are limited it should go to Joplin first as well as helping people left homeless obtain shelter.

Perfectly said.. I've often wondered how those with no money and no power are supposedly the source of all the problems.

I've seen this on the news and I am very proud of these protesters. I want to join them in L.A. If anyone has any info on how I can get involved or volunteer for their protests, please message me.

Losers. If they spent half this effort looking for JOBS, there'd be no need for a protest. Guess what...smoking/drinking/sleeping your way through a communications BA at Sandbox State, is not a recipe for success.

All they are accomplishing is adding unnecessary grief to the already overwork police. I work ON Wall St, and I've yet to see a single one of them anywhere near a bank, trading firm, etc. And I still have NO IDEA what exactly their goal is. Very effective.

But it's not surprising, this is like any other modern American youth protest. A bunch of overprivlidged yuppie larva, tweeting on the iphones their parents bought them, emailing from laptops their parents bought them, and youtubing every minute of it in an attempt to get a cop on video harassing them. All the while protesting corporate greed...through support of corporations like Apple, Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc. Brilliant.

The silver lining, is it's quite apparent to me, that my generation will NEVER have to worry about the one below us overachieving and taking our jobs in 30 yrs.

I'll be there. Seems to be like the rich folks and big corporations have hijacked our political system. The Boomers spent and spent while pushing taxes down, leaving the country in tatters for our generation. And I'm in no way shape or form a dirty hippie.

Thought they worked hard all their lives and have college degrees!
I say GO FOR IT, NY protestors.
I'm actually shocked that there's NOT been any protests about the state of our economy until NOW!
Good for you, young protestors.
And to those who think ONLY the young have the courage or strength to protest, try researching the ages of our founding fathers of this country. Many of those men were in their 70s!

To the poster from NJ, so the police like encouraged them to walk in a certain area, then suddenly told them to NOT be there? Sounds like a setup to me!
But you know what.. our country has been run by so many unscrupulous power hungry, rich, insensitive companies and leaders lately that really does NOT surprise me!
I've started to feel like we are living in Pre-Revolutionary War days here, esp, in CT, but also in our country in general. Tax us to the hilt, but make our lives so difficult to survive, we constantly worry about our future!
Yup.. I'd be also interested in the Occupy Hartford movement myself.
Also, all the protests that happened in the 60s & 70s DID end the War in Vietnam, so don't believe that protesting doesn't help anything!
That's what our country was founded on, we have a constitutional right to protest our govt. if we feel it's doing us wrong!
I didn't see any violence taking place on the Brooklyn Bridge nor hear of it either!
And I think Blumenthal has got a inkling that he KNOWS how upset the American population is with how the economy is going now... so he IS worried...
You try not being able to pay your bills, and see how GOOD you feel about the state of the nation! It's past worrisome.. It's downright stressful!

I wouldn't mind joining them in helping them to protest what ails the country now.. Not that I can afford a lawyer to help me out of jail, though, if I'm arrested!
That's kinda what the tea party movement is all about.. They KNOW how bad the economy is! They seen it with their own eyes, and seen their savings & their quality of life going down the tubes.
Now, everyone wants to make out that the Tea Party is a bunch of idiots, but that's far from the truth! They at least have the bravery to SPEAK the truth!

Now all these people who want all of us to KEEP SILENT and expect us to just brave the bad waters of this economy are cowards in my book and don't need to keep trying to influence others to just keep their mouths shut!

You asked this Lincolnian: "Does anyone honestly think that the way things are currently being handled by our leaders is providing meaningful solutions to our economic problems? "

NO NO NO NO NO! I don't think our leaders are doing us ANY good! But yet, they are getting GREAT salaries simply for BEING our leaders. I'd not surprised if we have a major revolution in this country either, in the next few years or even months. I think Blumenthal is being a bit prophetic here!
