Fish Family Farm RT85 Bolton is one. http://www.fishfamilyfarm.com/

If you head up into the Broad Brook area, there are still a lot of farms around there and it should meet your 1 hour criteria.

Hate to say this but, it might be the wrong year for scenic fall drives this year. The salt from the Tropical Systems has completely burnt the leaves and there's no vibrant "smooth" color to them.

More browns and yellows then vibrant colors.

Its not to say you cant enjoy a scenic drive but If you look closely at the trees this is what the leaves look like. Im wondering if anyone else is noticing it. I guess the media hasnt.

and this is from my roof 2007 compared to this year.

Yeah a lot of trees just dropped their leaves completely without barely a color change. Bummer.

Drive east out RT 184 into North Stonington and head north on RT 49 . Rt 49 is some 20+ miles in total of pretty road /farms in North Stonington, then out through the pine forest and farms in lower Voluntown and out Ekonk Hill in northern Voluntown through huge dairy farms and farm fields. Many mile views over rolling hills as you drive through northern Voluntown. Rt 49 ends at the Sterling/Plainfield border.

Not going to see much in the way of color though. That area of the state should be peaking right now and there is virtually no color. As people have noted, the trees are either bare already or just turning brown /dull bronze.

Hurricane Irene /salty winds took our autumn from us this year.

Even though Hurricane Irene hurt this seasons tree color, it still is pretty nice looking IMHO. Jay

It seems to me the further inland you go, the better it gets. Down on the shore it is downright pitiful.

I had to drive up Route 9 this AM into Cromwell. Normally the drive is gorgeous this time of year, especially when RT 9 takes you through southern Middletown and you can look over the hills toward Middlefield . The color was just not there. It looked more like late November than October.

But then I went up Main St., Cromwell and up by the Rocky Hill line I saw trees that were red, true red and some bright yellows. So I'm glad some people are getting to enjoy some color.
