Why is 95 always fine in ny but just jammed as soon as u cross the Bryam bridge? Is the traffic from 287 really that much or is there more to the picture?

Greenwich and Stamford. Lots of people commute to these cities (we have quite a few who come from New Jersey each day).

Thats what i figured. I went to college on long island, and traffic on li expressway was bad in rush hour but nowhere near as bad as 95 from ny border-new haven. though 95 thru sw ct is one of my favorite stretches on interstate to drive anywhere

Because there are far more on/off ramps in CT per mile than in Westchester.

A few reasons...

The road is better designed in Westchester..smoother, wider, and, yes, with exits every 2-3 miles instead of pretty much an exit per mile in FFC.

But I'm betting that the primary reason is that Westchester, unlike FFC, has an adequate number of freeways for its population. Very easy north-south travel throughout the county (east-west is a somewhat different story).

Moreover, 95 in Westchester does not go through the downtown employment centers..

Horrible drivers and tons of trucks, but yeah..generally does move at 65-75mph even during rush hour.

i dont have a problem with the trucks, i go well faster then them but theyre not going 10 mph either. and new rochelle is a big center but other then that ur right, not many big towns. 95 thru westchester is how every road should be built, cus it always moves 65-70 even when the cross bronx and ct tpke are awful

There are way too many exits. Look at Fairfield. It needs 3 exits off 95, tops. If not 2. That's such a congested stretch.
