Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash - StamfordAdvocate

This is what closed 95 in stamford yesterday
I was on Frontage Rd. in East Haven about 10 pm yesterday (Sun.). There was a motorcycle in front of me and he looked in back of him to make a lane change to the left lane. I thought he was being cautious; suddenly, he was riding on just the back wheel, accelerating like crazy and entering I-95 like a maniac. Needless to say, the noise from the bike was ridiculous but then they all say they do that for safety reasons, so people can hear them. I don't notice much attention to safety from most of those riders.

I learned sitting in heavy traffic is better than taking post road because everyone is getting off or not getting on and creating congestion on post road.
I have used this feature on this route and found it not too helpful. I find that local knowledge of backroads is almost always better than the GPS.

Good to know. I havent tried it yet because like I said...it always took longer when I got off. Question boils down to..

More time more Lights OR
More brakes more stress

Either way you lose

Thats where the local knowledge beats the GPS. If you know certain lights are longer than others, etc..

It says 45 minutes, but only if you drive like a granny.

I take 106 through New Canaan and Wilton (though I found a shortcut to bypass downtown New Canaan [right on Farm road, left on White Oak shade road at the stop sign, right on Lakeview, left on Hoyt to get back to 106). I follow 106 to 7, take 7 south to 33. From there I take 33 to 57, then Cross Highway/Congress streets which pretty much parrell the parkway from exit 42 to 47.

The only significant amount of traffic I see on that route is on 33 between the Chestnut Hill Rd insersection & the entrance to the Merritt. After I get past that, its pretty much smooth sailing from there. Almost no one is on Cross Highway/Congress Street.

Also, there may be different routes, but where I'm coming from in Greenwich (Cos Cob) that's definitely the best & fastest way via the back roads. Merritt doesn't usually get backed up until exit 35 anyways which is why I normally take it to there.

Thanks. I usually take the northern route through Redding, Weston and Easton. I used to take Congress/Cross Highway when I worked in Westport and commuted from Stratford. Its a great route, and I never thought to take it. Will have to try it .
