I am relocating to CT from NJ and is looking for a new car. NJ has good deal but automatically registers the car for 4 years for around 300 bucks. But I am not sure if I can buy one from a CT dealer as I wont be able to register the car in CT without first becoming a CT resident (takes 30 days). Any ideas? Should I go ahead buy in NJ?

Does anyone know if car Insurance is cheaper in CT than NJ?

Keep in mind that you probably will get a better deal on a car in NJ. We bought 2 of our last three cars in New York because we could get the car we want for a better price.

As for registration, you will need a Connecticut address to register it here. Until you have that you will have to register the vehicle in the state you live. Also there was another post here on this same subject a few years ago and if I remember correctly the poster ended up waiting to buy a vehicle until he had a home here in Connecticut. Jay

Yes, car insurance in CT is on the whole cheaper than in NJ. A few NJ companies like NJ Manufacturers are just as cheap though.

I kept my NJ insurance, plates, registration for a couple years when I first moved here. Then when my license expired I made the switch to CT.

That is what I am hoping to do. Might as well keep everything for a few years. My parents have me on 2 other cars in NJ. So adding a 3rd car might be cheaper. The deals I am getting on few cars are at least a 1000 bucks cheaper in NJ than CT. Thank you for the feedback.
