Default What is the closest town to Stars Hollow?

So my wife and I are addicted to Gilmore Girls. Living in Europe we still haven't seen the season finale. But which town in CT, if any, has that kind of look and feel?

Default Washington Depot

Search "Washington Depot Stars Hollow" There were 2 or 3 threads that discussed Washington Depot being the inspiration for or as close to Stars Hollow as it gets. Hope that helps. Have a great day!

I never watched the show, but there are many charming small towns and villages in Connecticut that would probably be close. The lower Connecticut River valley is beautiful with a number of towns that are wonderful. We love East Haddam with the Goodspeed Opera house and Gilette's Castle. Also Essex is very charming. Jay

Washington Depot- is supposedly the quintessential Gilmore Girls locale

however many other towns can match that ambiance.

The creator of the show set Gilmore Girls in a 'small New England town' after having visited Washington Depot. She claims they were stopped by someone asking where the pumpkin patch was and patrons in the coffee shops would get up and pour their own coffee.

I love the show also and with two votes for Essex I'll definitely have to check it out someday (along with the rest of CT).

I must disagree. I saw the episode where Luke had to go to Mystic to pick up a canonball. So Starshollow couldn't logically be Mystic. The concensus seems to be that Star's Hollow is Washington Depot.

I love the GG - my 16 year old son and 12 year old daughter watched it with me every week = we have all of the seasons and we are waiting for the last one to come out.
Miss them all - but especially Kirk

Bear lover:

You are lucky. Here in Italy, SKY Satellite has not gotten to the end of the season. I was able to download up to season 7 episode 19.

I am off to CT in two weeks to look for Stars Hollow. Wish me luck.

Good luck - I actually heard that the show was filmed in a small town in New York - I'll dig out the old seasons and tell you which one....

The show was filmed on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, CA. But the pilot episode was shot in Canada.

I've learned from this site that there are many Stars Hollow-like towns in and out of Connecticut. Have fun on your trip and take pictures if you find a little slice of Gilmore Girls.
