Ah cool, I know a few companies in town - but nothing in finance. Good place to be for that sort of thing.

I would consider Weston - if you work in Westport you'll be 5-10 minutes away from Weston. Weston high school is ranked number 1 in CT and home prices are easily 20-30% lower than in Westport. Minimum lot size is 2 acres so there's more privacy, too. Personally, I find people in Weston far friendlier than in Westport.

Estimated Median Home Price Weston: $1,099,746
Estimated Median Home Price Westport: $951,054

High School Rank: Depends who you listen to. Businessweek lists Staples as the best in Connecticut (America's Best High Schools: Connecticut - BusinessWeek). I think the difference in quality of education between Weston and Westport is negligible. However, the Staples facility is world class-- Field House, Pool with Diving Facility, Basketball Gym, Tennis Courts, FM Radio Station, TV Studio Recording Studios, State of the Art Library Media Center... Almost brand new building.

Yeah, I never thought of Weston as a bargain compared to Westport. If you want the woodsy privacy and rural setting, Easton is a whole lot cheaper.

The only reason why Weston has higher home prices is because the homes are larger and are on more land in general. If you compare two of the same homes, the one in Westport would be worth more.

Always wondered about this. Makes sense, Kid.

Mlassoff,

Where did you get the estimated median prices from ?
They do not correspond to any numbers I have seen in the last few years.
The point I was making is that Weston offers a very good school system at a substantial discount to Westport house prices. I think many people looking in Westport would be very pleasantly suprised to see what they could buy in Weston. You should look at actual closing prices rather than asking prices to get the full picture.

Have you heard of City-Data.com?

All of the information is available on this site. Just leave the forum, go to city-data.com and enter the name of the town you are interested in.

I don't see Weston as a "cheaper option to Westport" as the towns are entirely different in character.
