I'll be visiting the New London / Mystic area on business for a week in September. Any suggestions of things to see/do while I'm there.

Thanks so much!

You might try a trip to one of the casinos which are nearby. And we love eating at Abbotts in Noank. It is a small waterfront seafood place right on the water. Very beautiful and very very casual. Great fresh seafood with lobster their specialty. Jay

Mystic Pizza makes a decent pizza. Avoid the Steak Loft...it looks like it should be good, but the service is awful and the food barely passable. Don't bring a client there.

Check out Mystic Seaport. Mystic Seaport: The Museum of America and the Seaâ„¢ : Home It's bigger than it looks and there is so much to see.

I heard good things about Abbots in Noank. Welcome to Abbott's Lobster in Noank CT! We drove by on a Sunday night and couldn't believe the crowd.

And take some time and check out Noank - very charming. Don't bring the Hummer - very narrow streets.

My next time in the area I'm going to visit the submarine museum. Historic Ship NAUTILUS

Have fun.

I am not sure who resurrected this dinosaur of a thread.

Though have to say New London area has made a huge turn around. The Waterfront District is gorgeous. Can grab great bites to eat and walk around with little issue regarding safety.

Haven't explored the waterfront in regards to shopping. I do hope more boutique and local shops open up. New London can defiently be the next Portsmouth New Hampshire. The weather is a lot more tame in New London. You also have access to Block Island. Think access to the Sound and the Vineyard via ferry service. Can take the train to Providence or drive easily. Can also take the train to New Haven, New York, or Boston. If you want more shopping can head into Mystic. Can go to Olde Mystic Village for more shops. Can see attractions like Fort Griswold, go to the aquarium, or Mystic Seaport. Though lacks a Greenway, which a Greenway from New Haven to Westerly be awesome. They do have great local running clubs, running events, gyms, golf courses, and swim events.

On top of that close to Outlet malls for shopping and a mall. For entertainment close to two casino's.

Think if Eastern CT or Southern CT opened a satellite campus in New London propel the city even more forward.

Affordability it is one of the cheapest cost of living areas in CT. Traffic is minor outside of beach and tourist traffic in peak seasons.

Only issue might affect people looking to live in New London is it's job market is based off of retail jobs, trade/skill jobs, seaport/fishing jobs, Healthcare jobs, government jobs (Federal/State/Local), and jobs in the education fields.

Yale, Hartford, Masonicare, and Athena have taken a strong hold in regards to the healthcare field in the area.
