Very cool to see them doing something with the Palace Theater.

I think this is long overdue and will be a big draw. New Haven in 2015 is different then when the Palace was last open in the early 90s. Within walking distance, there will be thousands of more potential customers who can walk there then what existed in the early 90s. In addition to 360 State Street, there are new apartment buildings being built on College, Chapel, Church, Crown, and big new projects ready to start in Wooster Square, and with a new corporate HQ down the block. A couple of years from now there will be more housing by the Coliseum site. Having this new concert all is another "quality of life/entertainment" factor that helps certain people choose where to live. It will feed on itself.

Agreed. Big changes for the better for New Haven in the next couple years.

I'll try to recap from an earlier post I did (maybe November).
You can see the following constructions projects underway:

-Alexion Corporate HQ/ aka 100 College Street (1 block past George St)- 13 floors; new construction.
-College Street Apartment complex (between Crown and George Sts)- 150 units; new construction.
-Chapel Street Apartment complex (at Howe St- photo posted above)- 150 units; new construction.
-Union Trust building Apartment complex (Elm and Church St)- 150 units; conversion office to housing.
-Crown Street Apartments (1 block past College)- 25 luxury units; conversion to housing + additional floors.
-Boathouse at Canal Dock (Long Wharf opposite IKEA)- new construction
-College Street Music Hall (between Crown and Chapel)- 2000 capacity; renovation of vacant Palace Theater.
-Winchester Lofts at Science Park (150 units) new construction opened 2 months.

-the below projects are approved by private financing and are in planning but I don't think any have started:
State Street Apartment complex (150 units new construction and renovation- ground was broken);
LWP Coliseum Development with new hotel planned (S. Orange at George St); Marriott Residence Inn new hotel planned (Howe and Elm St); three separate Wooster Square apartment complexes 500+ units at Union St/Chapel and Chapel and Olive St at Comcast building and across street; Continuum of Care HQ new construction at MLK/S Frontage Rd; Church St apartments on top of Gotham Citi cafe building (at Crown St); two new senior housing 19 floor towers at Bella Vista complex (by Foxon Rd);
two new Yale college dorm complexes for 1000 additional students (beyond Grove St Cemetery); new retail/Yale Graduate apartment building (Broadway lot next to Tyco).

Don't think they've broken ground yet.

There is also the new Yale Campus by the hockey rink underway.

Also they started the mixed use development on State Street by 91. The old Star Supply building. It's across from Rice Pot (awesome Thai).

Lastly Jordan's Furniture at the old NH Register building just started, but there's not much to see and it's by 95 in an area that isn't very walkable.
