What would the best place/area of downtown Stamford be to move to? Looking for safety first, convenience second (hop to train), activity options third.

I mean i have lived here now for three months and knock on wood, I have had no problems, I also am not that far past Greenwich, the further down richmond hill u go the worse it does get so I think its more what part of downtown you are in. Like I said I have had no problems thus far, I work crazy hours and come home late at night alone and noone has bothered me, or my car, or my apartment, but again it may be just because of where I live or I talk to the people in my neighborhood a lot so that could be it also, not sure. But just like anywhere sometimes bad things happen to people in suburbs too, its all your preference and how comfortable you feel.

The reality is that the most dangerous parts of Stamford are not dangerous at all. You will have to go to ghettos in certain other cities in the state and elsewhere if you want to see what bad ghettos really look like, but I'll refrain from naming them. God forbid another fight breaks out here in the forums, just for naming them. lol

I've said it plenty of times. Stamford's "bad" areas are so compared to the rest of the city, but in reality they are not bad at all.

Glad to see Buffalogirl12 posting again.

1) Downtown is pretty safe, regardless where you settle.

2/3) Downtown is small enough that it is quite walkable to both, the train station and the activities/nightlife/restaurants/etc.

Personally, I find the areas around Prospect Street-Forest Street and North Street-Franklin Street quite appealing and in a sense, cosy. There's something intimate about those areas, I can't really explain it. You'll have to visit the areas to maybe understand what I'm referring to. If I didn't live in a single family home up in the woods, I would had chosen one of those areas without thinking twice.

For convenience, there are new condos currently being offered at various locations on Washington Boulevard, right on the edge of Downtown, that you might want to look into. These are as convenient as possible for your access to the train station, since the station is straight down the boulevard. Simple and quick.

It's too bad you haven't been on since you posted this. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the area now.
