Question Are East & Nort Heaven safe?

Hello,

I'm looking for a place to live for a few months, and the only (affordable) options that I've found now are on East and North Heaven. I work on Trumbull and I'd preffer something closer too job, but the closes option is Bridgeport and I've been told that it's a really unsafe area.

My option in East Heaven is on Main St, so I'd like to know if those places (EH & NH) are a good and safe place to live... We're a couple with no kids but we like to take our dogs to walk on the evening/night..

Should I keep looking this area or try to get an apartment on a different place?

Thanks in advance for your help

North Haven and East Haven are both safe. If you're working in Trumbull, you could be closer. There are nice areas of Milford, for instance, that are reasonably priced and very safe.

Yeah, Milford would be great, but I haven't found a place there that cost less than 1400 and accepts pets. I've found also on West Heaven (near to beach), Hamden and Nagatuck... Any advice?

There are definitely places in Milford under $1400, and if you're lucky you may find one that accepts pets. You may want to start talking to a realtor. North Haven and East Haven aren't great options for commuting to Trumbull. West Haven isn't a bad option. Most of it is pretty safe, except for parts of eastern West Haven that border some trouble parts of New Haven.

I'd focus on west of New Haven. West Haven, Milford, Shelton, Stratford. Have you looked into Stratford or Shelton?

I agree that you should stay west of New Haven to commute to Trumbull. East Haven will require you to commute through New Haven on I-95 which will not be fun. And North Haven is kind of far from Trumbull. Have you looked in Stratford? It is a very nice town and should have rentals in your price range, just try to stay away from the Bridgeport border south of Route 1.

Also consider Bridgeport. The North End (north of North Avenue and west of Main Street) is very nice as is Black Rock west of Ellsworth Street and the Beardsley Park area north of Boston Avenue. Also check Shelton and th valley towns like Derby, Ansonia and Seymour. Jay

If you are working in Trumbull I would really suggest Derby(might be more affordable), Shelton(may be a little pricey but not too bad) or Hamden. North Haven and especially East Haven are pretty far and considering the commute in the morning you are likely to hit one of the largest traffic jams in CT if you lived in East Haven(the Quinnipiac Bridge). In short, East Haven is a really bad option for the commuter. We are talking like the CT to NYC commute bad.

North Haven is nice but its a bit far. You would be traveling with the traffic as you would with East haven but it wouldnt be too bad. Your're only option would be rt 15 which can get messy since it only has 2 lanes and has accidents fairly often. Derby is a great option because you are literally down the highway a few exits. You will get some traffic but I cannot imagine it being at bad as the east haven commute(plus you are considerably closer). In shelton you are kind of next door. Hamden is kind of like North haven but a little closer to trumbull.

-While the Valley area(derby shelton) are not surrounded by lots of retail and stuff they are closer to work.

-North Haven/ Hamden are around more stuff but are a little further.

All depends on what preferences, but I cannot stress enough that those options are better than east haven especially if you are working in trumbull. Besides that though, you are just closer to alot of things.

North Haven has better reputation than east haven. I would say Hamden is better pick because it is on west side on high way 15

You're not likely to find much in North Haven for just a few months. As a predominately residential suburban town, most rents require leases for a year. You might find yourself a boarding situation but at this time of year, it'll likely be a summer gig, reserved primarily for students once Quinnipiac, Southern, and Yale return for fall semester in mid-late August.

If u consider Bridgeport North End Stay On North of Capital Ave and West Of Main Street all way to Trumbull Line, Tree Land area North of Boston Ave like close to Huntington turnpike, Black Rock west of Ellsworth Street and rest of Bridgeport range are sketchy to crime ridden areas. Other towns are close Milford,Shelton,West Haven,Derby,Stratford,Monroe,Ansonia,Orange,North Haven
