It's next to Hartford, right next to Hartford. Blueback Square is going in... lots of traffic, more influx from Hartford, imo. I am echoing what a few friends of ours who moved out of West Hartford told us. Good school system though, so I hear.
I'm sure you'll do your homework and make the right decision. I will admit that I live in a more *country* area and like the quiet so W. Htfd would never be my personal choice. But.. that's me.

Crime MimiS--how are you backing THAT statement up? So wrong. I live there--have left my garage door open multiple times as well as keys in my front door and have never had anything stolen. You are so wrong.
Traffic? Maybe in the center, but again, you're making some incorrect statements. The rest of W.Hfd is not filled with traffic. And too close to Hartford? Do you really live in Ct? You're just so wrong.
To the original poster, if your kids are driving, I think you might want to consider living in W. Hfd. I wouldn't want my kids driving the route to N.W. from Avon--Simsbury doesn't have the mountain issue, but wintertime will be hairy for them with snowy roads.
Good luck to the op.

Most of the towns you've listed are really nice and worth considering. But just so you know, Simsbury, West Hartford, Granby and Bloomfield ALL have mil rates that are SIGNIFICANTLY higher than Canton.

Please note that mill rates mean little if the property assessments are different. The higher the assessment the higher the taxes. Jay

Simsbury is a great town. and yes you can find a home in your price range. if this is not right for you, granby is next best town. its an easy commute, and there are many children who go to northwest catholic you could car pool with. i will help glad to
