Nice & safe apartment complexes in Stamford
Hi all,
I'm a single gal in my late 20's who currently lives in Hamden and has been applying for jobs in Stamford. I've read a bunch of apartment reviews but still am a bit lost on what complexes are nice and in a safe area of Stamford.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Lisa

What's your budget? The Avalon Grey Rock Place in downtown and the other Avalon across the street are nicely maintained, have lovely amenities, and have a shuttle to the train (if needed) in the morning. Cost though, of a 1 bedroom there runs around $1700-$1800 per month (or more). Super safe around there--I used to live there in 2005-2006.

My budget would be in the $1700-2000 range. I currently live in an Avalon community but all the ratings I've read (specifically on apartmentratings.com) of their Stamford communities were not great. So I'm trying to decide if I should live in Stamford or try to live somewhere else.

I have many coworkers who live in Stamford (20something females and males), none of whom have ever had any safety problems there. They primarily live downtown, in Avalons and in smaller complexes. It's been consistently ranked either the #1 or close to #1 in safety for a city of its size.

Out of the 4 Avalons, which one would you recommend the most? I'm just looking for one that I can walk to and from my apartment and feel safe.

Despite the Avalon reviews on apartment.com (which weren't too positive from memory) I think it's best if you spend some time touring round the Avalon communities to see which one you feel most comfortable with.
After viewing several apartments in Stamford we moved into Avalon Grove (our second preference was Avalon @ Greyrock Place) - we've had no problems to date and it's fairly clean and safe to cruise around.
Hope that helps!

Apartments on lower Strawberry Hill Avenue usually have 24 hour security so that helps.
