What do you think our state is missing to be the perfect place to live?

Please don't tell me the state is perfect, because its not. So, with that out of the way...

  • Utility infrastructure is outdated and too much of it is above ground.
  • Highway infrastructure is rather outdated. Although, I have to say I have been seeing great improvements over the past year or so. I-95 is actually smooth and well paved now, with wider shoulders and newer bridges and signs.
  • Overall, it is a family oriented state and could use more attractions for singles and young people.
  • Climate could be slightly warmer. It's freekin' May and I'm wearing a jacket today.
  • Overall, housing could be more affordable.
  • CT has no large city, really. All cities are under 150,000 population.
  • Compared to other states, CT lacks in new construction homes.

It would be nice if we had a "big" city. New Haven seems like the best candidate for intense growth with its location (harbor+central+transit hub) and amenities. It does lack a major airport though. If only Tweed could be expanded to at least be the size of White Plains.

CT also lacks good music venues. There's just not enough in our cities. We just have a lot of bars that have live music and bigger venues that cater to an old classic rockish crowd.

And less traffic in SW. And warmer winters.

Other than New Haven and especially in Fairfield County there is an extreme lack of decent restaurants.

30 Degree Temps all year round.

lol.

Good thread as each one of us will have different opinions on what they think will make a state btter or perfect.

1. Population less than 1 Million instead of 3.5 million.
2. A new Interstate running North/South from Danbury to I-90
3. More Museums
4. Health Care reform(I believe CT ranks highest for someone with no ins.)
5. Eliminating vehicle tax
6. More tree plantings (Spruces and Pines especially)

Other than those, what a beautiful state to live in.

After living in Connecticut for a decade and loving the state's beauty and weather, the only thing missing (and the reason I moved out of Connecticut) is lack of fiscal responsibility by the politicians and public unions. Rapidly rising taxes and likely unreasonable future tax increases on personal income, property, real estate and sales are killing the state's future, imo.
