Default Connecticut's new tourism campaign?

I am curious what you folks think of the first product of Connecticut's new branding campaign.

Personally, I'm pretty impressed with it. John Dankosky's Where We Live did a radio show on it today with some pretty heated and opinions both for and against...

Love the video. Gave me chills.

I don't know if it will be effective and I hope there are some ways of tracking ROI on this marketing campaign.

It basically focused on central and southeastern Connecticut - what about the rest of the state?

They need less shots of the orchestra and more shots of Connecticut.

Meh. Makes one thing Connecticut is Essex, Mystic, part of the shoreline and the casinos. And some woods.

Nothing of Hartford, nothing of New Haven and the breathtaking Yale campus and culture, nothing of any of our charming historical downtowns. Also that tracking shot in the beginning is terrible, overcast and during winter when everything is dead? Too much of that dreadful fake orchestral piece.

Sorry, I do video as a part of my living and this is just lame...

That sucked. What a waste of 20+ million dollars.

They should have hired this guy...he probably put this video together for less than a hundred bucks.

That campaign was 20 million? Holy crap.

Does the state not realize there are tons of very competent agencies in CT that work on national brands and would BLOW that campaign out of the water?

Sad.

Okay it's 27 million budget for two years...but still.

No I don't think they do considering they went to a NYC firm...the very people that think we are a corridor to Boston. Nice eh?

Did you see the recent boondoggle regarding a website for Rochambeau? They budgeted $180,000 for a website...a website. So a republican representative spent less than $100 and created a site for it calling them out and embarrassing them. LOL

Oh, wow, that is messed up that they went to an NYC agency. Which one? It's lousy by NYC agency standards.

Should've kept the money in CT. I can think of so many agencies that would've done a way better job and kept the money in-state. Shameful.

What's Rochambeau? Websites can cost well over $180k when done by a bigger agency. A lot of big brands have $4-5MM web budgets per year, just for creative/production/account/strategy - not even including media. A serious site overhaul can be in the $500k-$1MM range easily. We're talking multi-national billion dollar brands though.

I'm sure they didn't need to spend that much though and probably wouldn't know what good work was.
