It is beautiful, but not more beautiful than CT IMO. Like I said, I found it to be too rugged and clammy. CT is nice and flatter and more sunny and greener.

This thread made laugh hard,You went to one small part of Maine for 2 days and came away with all that. Your the type of person that gives the rest of us Americans a bad rep.Nothing like living life narrow minded, opinionated and judgemental.

CT is a different kind of green. I'm not sure how CT could be sunnier though.

CT is a more lush, darker, denser green, which I love. ME is more of a lighter green and less dense. I didn't like it....it looked kind of dirty. But CT looks clean and manicured. Of course, CT is sunnier. It's at a lower latitude and gets a more direct sunlight than ME does. So it gets dark slightly earlier in ME than in CT.

So to recap what you do like:

Dense green forests
Good roads
Good signage
Warmer
Sunnier
Sandy beaches
Clean/well kept
Non-rugged
Classy people

Hmm, I think CT is a decent fit. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. That's my take.

I've been to everywhere in the Western US and I don't think it would be a good fit for you climate-wise. The majority of the forested areas there are primarily evergreens with dark green needles. Except for parts of the Pacific Northwest which have nice diverse forests, but I don't think you would like the many months of cool/clammy/gray weather there. It's either that or arid brown areas with sagebrush for the most part. The West Coast's coastal areas are rocky with cold/choppy waters compared to CT in the summer.

Roads out West are usually easy to understand due to not being so old.

As for all the other stuff, just visit the highest income areas.

I can't believe I'm going to reply again in this thread, but you do realize Maine is huge, right? You do realize you experienced sliver of the state in a short narrow focused time, right?

You also do realize that points further North actually have more daylight in the Summer season right?

Did you go to Cape Elizabeth? No. Did you hit up the Kennebunks? No. York? No. OOB? No. Did you see the Mid-Coast and points like Rockland, Camden etc? No. Have you ever seen the great North Woods? No. Did you trek out to Poland Springs, Casco, Sebago, or Bethel in the White Mountain range? No.

I can't imagine someone driving alone RT1 from Bridgeport to New Haven and thinking they've seen CT. You just did the same thing to Maine, and New Hampshire. Honestly, I can't believe you think New Hampshire is dirty. It's one if not THE cleanest state in New England and the roads are fantastic along the seacoast. Did you even bother to go into Portsmouth? Probably not.

Wow...very ignorant. I didn't say NH was dirty. I said that the roads in RI were a complete mess. Did you even bother to read my original post? Probably NOT.
