I am moving from Boston to CT for a job. I will be commuting from New Haven at 5pm to Newtown, and then driving back from Newtown to New Haven at 9am (overnight shift). I'm thinking this will be a long, trafficy commute. Any thoughts?

Theoretically you could take route 34 all the way there, which is a back road - I don't know about the traffic on it but compared to many peoples commutes I think that would be doable. 26 miles and probably medium-high speed limits?

I guess I-84 to route 67 would be another choice, but I don't think that's better.

34 is not really a back road. Most of the way it will be a four lane divided highway with stop lights.

OP - Not much traffic, but there will be a lot of lights. Your hours are to your advantage though.
